From Decision Games:

The Magazine:

Strike & Counterstrike - Battle for Moscow, December 1941 to April 1942: The German invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941 came down to a final test of strength in the last quarter of the year, with the Soviet capital as the prize.

Other Articles:

Missed Opportunity - A Polish-Czechoslovak Alliance: On 1 October 1938, Germany occupied the Czechoslovakian region known as the Sudetenland. Less than a year later, it would invade Poland, sparking World War II. Neither state could stand alone against the German onslaught, but together they might have had a chance to forestall German aggression.

1st Marine Raider Battalion: The advent of World War II saw the US Marine Corps thinking "outside the box" when it came to appropriate organizations to accomplish their doctrinal missions. The Marine Raiders were one organization developed for this task.

Naval Battle of the Komandorskis - 26 March 1943: In March 1943, US and Japanese warships clashed in the frigid waters off the Aleutian Islands. The naval battle would precede the American landings on Attu and Kiska to oust the Japanese forces that occupied these islands.

The Game:

Strike & Counterstrike (SCS) is purpose-designed solitaire wargame that covers the Soviet counteroffensive against German Army Group Center (AGC) from early December 1941 to the end of April 1942. The single player actively commands the Soviet forces, while the rules system directs him in the deployment of the opposing German force. The player wins with the Soviets by seizing control of key territorial objectives. Games may also end in draws or German victories. Strike & Counterstrike shares the same system with Rampage, Stalingrad Cauldron, and Panzers East, there are differences in their details of play. That’s due to the differences in the time and space scales in the individual games, as well as the fact I’m always further developing my views in regard to the best particulars for use in Solitaire systems. Play each game in the system according to the specific rules presented for it.

Components: 22x34 inch map, 228 die-cut counters.
