Malaya Campaign 1941-1942: The British fortress-city of Singapore surrendered to the Japanese on 15 February 1942. Winston Churchill would later declare it to be the “worst disaster and largest capitulation in British history.“

• The Miracle at Pearl Harbor - Salvaging Battleship Row: On 7 December 1941, two waves of Japanese naval aircraft struck the American fleet stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. In a courageous effort, the US was able to salvage six of the damaged battleships, and they would later participate in nearly all major Allied amphibious operations in World War II.
• Warsaw Uprising: German rule of conquered Warsaw seemed on the verge of collapse at the end of July 1944. On 1 August, the Polish resistance launched the Warsaw Uprising.

The Game:

Pacific Battles: Malaya is a wargame series of several campaigns in the Pacific Theater of Operations in World War II. The system emphasizes the operational level of these campaigns, and deals with land and air operations. This is a two player game. One player controls the Japanese, the other the Allies. Pacific Battles Malaya is the fourth game in this series, and it covers the entire land-air campaign for the lower peninsula of Malaya, and the city of Singapore, December 1941 to February 1942. The other games in the series are Guadalcanal (#23), Nomonhan (#32), and Shanghai (#42).
