It's the summer of 1985, the British 1st Armored Division find themselves in a epic struggle against the Soviet invasion of West Germany. Their job? Counterattack the base of the Soviet salient piercing NATO lines.  

Yet, amidst the burning tanks and smoking earth of their counterattack, they stumble upon something far more sinister than they could have imagined. Strange apparitions emerge from the shadows—ghastly Soviet soldiers, resurrected to serve once more. Freakish Soviet vehicles tear across the land, tracks screeching and cannons unleashing unearthly bursts of energy against the British armor. The English soldiers find themselves face-to-face with horrors that defy all reason, a nightmarish threat beyond the scope of any battlefield they had known. They find themselves facing the evil Soviet Regiment eX.

Welcome to Broken Logic, the haunting second expansion to the award-winning game The Long Road.  A labor of love, the Long Road has earned praise for its gritty, platoon-level, 1985-era combat intertwined with dark supernatural twists. Make no mistake, the world has turned upside down; British infantry fight side-by-side with lycan clans—some in human form, others transformed into beasts. Even the vampiric Eagle Eyrie Coven has come out of hiding, wielding futuristic weaponry against NATO and Warsaw Pact forces alike.

From British Challengers to American Abrams, NATO’s arsenal seems unstoppable, but the Soviets have unlocked weaponry far more terrifying. Long rumored, thin seams between parallel worlds have indeed been discovered—and exploited. With this newfound knowledge, Soviet forces rip through reality’s fabric, calling forth unspeakable entities to bolster their ranks.

And that’s only the beginning. Soviet engineers have unveiled advanced weaponry that defies comprehension: armored vehicles firing deadly, energy spheres that ricochet into multiple targets, T-72 tanks armed with colossal 135mm cannons, potent enough to obliterate enemy armor… even if they sometimes detonate from the sheer force of firing, and Russian 10-meter-tall bipedal multi-weapon platforms—easy to target but devastatingly armed—that can decimate a British tank troop in mere seconds.

Their infantry? Proceeded by the ravenous Hell Hounds, they attack without fear. Stalin’s old mantra, “Quantity has a quality all its own,” takes on a twisted new meaning. Soviet scientists have mastered the grim art of reanimation, sending the fallen back into the fray as “Reborn.” These soldiers—not dead, yet not alive—fight nearly as well as the living, adding an eerie and relentless advantage to the Soviet front.

Nothing here is logical. Nothing makes sense. Or as one battle-worn soldier said, “Our logic is broken.”

Gameplay

• Platoon-level combat: most counters represent 3-4 vehicles, 30 soldiers. Hexes are 150 meters.
• Bigger-than-life Heroes: Single-man counters (Legends, Heroes, and Commanders) have special abilities that can turn the tide of battle.
• Interactive sequence of play. Little down time.
• Powerful Action Cards ramp up your attack, allow paranormal forces to use crazy abilities, or just give players the opportunity to wreck their opponent’s plans with “Take that!” card play.
