World at War 85 - Volume 2: Operation Red Gauntlet: Crossing the Mighty Weser Expansion

Operation Red Gauntlet portrays the Soviet army's attempts to cross the mighty Weser river. This expansion gives you a total of 5 exciting scenarios, including a MONSTER scenario using all nine maps. 

Assault Across the Weser:  In scenario one, the Soviet forces attempt to cross the Weser in the vicinity of Neesen while pursuing the withdrawing West Germans. The Soviets must cross the Weser and attempt to exploit their pursuit. The West Germans must delay the Soviets and prevent the Soviets from crossing the river until reinforcements arrive. This scenario uses 4 maps, with elements of a Soviet regiment facing off against elements of a West German brigade.

Red Lightning: In scenario two, Soviet air assault troops land in Minden in order to seize bridges across the Weser and Mittellandkanal. They must hold their positions awaiting a link-up with the onrushing Soviet 3rd Red Banner Army. It uses 4 maps, as Soviet air assault troops contend against elements of a British mechanized battalion.

Counter-Attack At Neesen: In scenario three, The West Germans counterattack against the flank of the Soviet bridgehead at Neesen in order to reestablish the Weser as a defensive line. It uses 2 maps, with elements of a West German mechanized brigade counterattacking a mixture of Soviet motorized rifle and tank regiments.

Death from Above: In scenario four we move farther south of Minden to the city of Holzminden, where the Soviet offensive has arrived at the Weser yet is temporarily at bay. Uses 2 maps. A British mechanized battalion joins forces with West German airborne anti-tank troops to try and displace a Soviet motorized rifle battalion while a reinforcing Soviet tank battalion tries to intervene.

Operation Red Gauntlet: In scenario five, the Soviet 47th Guards Tank division is reinforced with army air assault troops, while attempting a broad crossing of the Weser.  After fending off earlier attempts to get over the Weser, NATO rushes reinforcements to the area to keep the Soviet forces from using their growing numbers to force the river. It uses 8 maps! The Soviets send two air assault battalions as well as two reinforced regiments against a mixture of West German, British, and American troops.

This expansion requires ownership of Blood and Fury to play scenarios #1, #2, #3, and #4, while scenario #5 requires ownership of Blood and Fury, Storming the Gap, and the Storming the Gap Expansion Pack to play.
